How to Make LG RH256 DVD Players Region Free

An LG DVD player--for example, the RH256 model--will not play commercial DVDs made in other parts of the world. To enable the LG DVD player to play any commercial DVD (i.e., remove the "region" code restriction), activate an undocumented menu. The procedure uses the LG's remote control and will not negatively affect any of its other operational features. Once done, the LG DVD player will be compatible with any commercial DVD that you might have or purchase.

Moderately Easy

1

Aim the LG's remote control at the LG DVD player. Press the "Power" button to turn the player on. Eject the disc tray by pressing the "Open/Close" button. Press "Open/Close" again to close the disc tray once it has fully extended out of the LG DVD player.
2

Press "Pause" and then "Enter" on the remote control as soon as "No Disc" appears on the LG's LCD information screen.
3

Press the following number keys in this precise order: 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9. Wait for "Code" or "FF" to appear on the information screen before proceeding.
4

Press the "0" (zero) numeric key on the remote to set a no region restriction mode--this will enable the LG DVD player able to play any DVD. Press "Pause" after pressing "0" (zero).
5

Press the "Power" button to turn the LG DVD player off. Count up to 30. Press the "Power" button to turn the LG DVD player on to complete the process as the DVD player now is unlocked and will play a disc no matter what region it might have.
